Welding Sprays
Welding sprays protect the workpiece, the fixture and the welding nozzle against adhering weld spatter and weld beads. In this category you will find the silicone-free Welding Protection Spray CO₂ and the Welding Release Spray P/B from Aerosols Germany. Both products are aimed at welding shops, metal fabrication, steel and plant construction, body shops, training workshops and specialist welding supply dealers. A welding spray reduces rework, because spatter no longer has to be ground or chiselled off after welding, and keeps the gas nozzle clear so that the shielding gas flows freely and the seam stays clean.
Selection guide: welding spray for workpiece and nozzle
The two products differ in formulation and main area of use. The overview assigns them to typical requirements.
| Requirement | Suitable product |
|---|---|
| Silicone-free protection of the metal surface against weld spatter | Welding Protection Spray CO₂ |
| Workpiece is to be painted over after post-treatment | Welding Protection Spray CO₂ |
| Cleaning and keeping welding nozzles clean | Welding Protection Spray CO₂ |
| Steel, aluminium and stainless steel in arc and gas-shielded welding | Welding Protection Spray CO₂ |
| Preventing weld beads from adhering to workpiece and fixture | Welding Release Spray P/B |
The Welding Protection Spray CO₂ contains 95 % pure active ingredient and is silicone-free. Freedom from silicone is required wherever the workpiece will later be painted or coated, because silicone residues can cause wetting defects in the paint. The Welding Release Spray P/B is the release agent that prevents weld beads from adhering, so that spatter can easily be wiped or brushed off after welding.
Application and notes
Apply the welding spray before welding to the cleaned workpiece, to the fixture and, if required, into the gas nozzle. A thin, even film is sufficient; a thicker coat brings no additional benefit. Weld as usual and then remove spatter and film residues. Before painting, the Welding Protection Spray CO₂ requires a simple post-treatment; carry out a test coat with new paint systems. Observe the occupational safety requirements for welding and ensure adequate extraction. For both products, the label and the safety data sheet are authoritative.

Frequently asked questions
Why should a welding spray be silicone-free?
Silicone residues on the workpiece can cause wetting defects during later painting or coating. A silicone-free welding spray such as the Welding Protection Spray CO₂ avoids this risk and can be painted over after a simple post-treatment. This is particularly important in metal fabrication, body construction and series production, where welded parts are subsequently coated.
Which materials is the Welding Protection Spray CO₂ suitable for?
The Welding Protection Spray CO₂ can be used on steel, aluminium and stainless steel and is intended for arc and gas-shielded welding work. It protects the metal surface against weld spatter and at the same time serves to clean welding nozzles and keep them clean. For other materials or processes, we recommend a preliminary test and the information in the technical data sheet.
What does the Welding Release Spray P/B do?
The Welding Release Spray P/B prevents weld beads from adhering to the workpiece, fixture and clamping devices. After welding, the spatter remains loose on the release film and can be wiped or brushed off instead of being ground off. This reduces rework and protects workpiece surfaces and fixtures.
Are the welding sprays available as an own brand?
Yes. Aerosols Germany also produces both welding sprays as a private label for specialist welding supply dealers, industrial suppliers and bulk users. You receive the products with your label and your article number; the formulation remains unchanged. Tell us the product you require and your demand, and we will agree the label, quantities and delivery times with you.
