Testing Sprays
Testing sprays make visible what remains hidden to the naked eye: a leak detection spray indicates leaks on fittings, pressure and gas lines by forming bubbles, while the crack testing kit of cleaner, penetrant and developer reveals fine surface cracks on components. The category is completed by the mould release agent for the plastics industry, a processing aid used in the same manufacturing environment. The products are aimed at maintenance, quality assurance, installation companies, welding shops, vehicle workshops as well as dealers and manufacturers with their own range.
Selection guide: leak detection spray or crack testing kit
The products in this category cover two testing tasks and one manufacturing aid. The table shows which product belongs to which task:
| Task | Product | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Finding leaks on fittings, pressure and gas lines, tyres | Leak Detector 400 ml | non-flammable, immediate bubble formation, biodegradable |
| Crack testing, steps 1 and 3: pre-cleaning and removing excess | Crack Testing Kit Cleaner 400 ml | removes dirt, grease and excess penetrant |
| Crack testing, step 2: applying the penetrant | Red Penetrant 400 ml | penetrates open cracks |
| Crack testing, step 4: making cracks visible | Developer Spray 400 ml | white layer draws the penetrant out of the crack |
| Demoulding plastic parts | Mould Release Agent 400 ml | release agent for the plastics industry |
Application and notes
The leak detector is sprayed onto the suspected leak; escaping gas immediately forms bubbles and indicates the leak. As the product is non-flammable, it can also be used with flammable media. Crack testing follows a fixed sequence: first, the surface is freed of dirt, grease and loose residues with the cleaner. Then the red penetrant is sprayed on; it penetrates open cracks. After the dwell time, the excess is removed again with the cleaner until the surface is free of red colour. Finally comes the developer, which, as a thin white layer, draws out the penetrant remaining in the cracks and makes the crack visible as a red line. The mould release agent is applied thinly and evenly to the mould surface before the plastic part is produced. For all products, observe the information on the label and safety data sheet.
Supply for industry, trade and own brand
Aerosols Germany is the spray brand of Berger & Schröter GmbH in Iserlohn. Production and filling take place at partner plants in Europe, quality control and dispatch in Iserlohn. We supply the leak detector, crack testing kit and mould release agent directly to industry, maintenance and installation companies as well as to specialist technical dealers. For dealers and manufacturers, we also offer the testing sprays under your own brand: with your label, your article number and a coordinated combination, for example as a crack testing kit of three cans. Frequently asked questions
How does a leak detection spray work?
The leak detector is sprayed onto screw connections, fittings or sections of pipework that are under pressure. If gas escapes at any point, the spray immediately forms clearly visible bubbles there and indicates the leak. This works on pressure and gas lines as well as on vehicle tyres or other inflatable items. After testing, the residues are wiped off and the leaking point is repaired.
In which order is the crack testing kit used?
Crack testing takes place in four steps with three products: first, you clean the test surface with the crack testing kit cleaner. Then you spray on the red penetrant and allow it to work. Next, you remove the excess again with the cleaner until the surface is free of colour. Finally, you apply the developer; the white layer draws the penetrant out of the cracks and makes them visible as red lines.
Can the leak detector be used with flammable gases?
The leak detector is non-flammable and can therefore also be used with flammable media. This makes it suitable for testing gas lines and fittings as well as compressed air and other pressure lines. The product is biodegradable. For the test itself, the release of a line and the subsequent repair, the operator's requirements and the information on the label and safety data sheet apply.
What is the mould release agent used for?
The mould release agent is a release agent for the plastics industry. It is sprayed thinly onto the surface of moulds and tools and forms a release film so that injection-moulded, pressed and cast parts can be removed more easily after moulding and do not stick to the tool. Compatibility with the respective plastic and with subsequent work steps such as painting or bonding should be checked beforehand.
