Quality and CLP Labelling of Spray Cans
Aerosols are pressurised containers and in most cases hazardous mixtures within the meaning of the CLP Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008. The labelling of spray cans under CLP and the requirements of the Aerosolpackungsverordnung (German Aerosol Dispensers Ordinance, 13. ProdSV) are therefore an integral part of every Aerosols Germany product. Production and filling take place at partner plants in Europe; Berger & Schröter carries out incoming goods and quality control before dispatch at the Iserlohn site.
Quality control in Iserlohn
The checks during filling, such as fill quantity, pressure, valve seating and the leak test under the Aerosolpackungsverordnung, are carried out at the production partner. In Iserlohn, our control begins at goods receipt: we check the incoming goods for conformity with the approved specification, for label and batch marking, for the fitted valve, spray head and cap and for the condition of the cans. Random samples are checked for spray pattern and function. Every can carries a batch marking so that the delivery, production partner and test results can be assigned.
Aerosolpackungsverordnung (German Aerosol Dispensers Ordinance, 13. ProdSV)
The Aerosolpackungsverordnung regulates the construction, testing and labelling of aerosol dispensers. For labelling, this means among other things: name and address of the person placing the product on the market, the conformity mark, the batch marking, the nominal fill quantity and the warnings regarding the pressurised container, protection from heating and handling of the empty can. We compile this information for every label, including private label labels that you design.
Spray can labelling under CLP
The CLP Regulation specifies how a mixture is classified and labelled. Aerosols are classified according to flammability in categories 1 to 3; in addition, there are the hazards of the contents, such as irritant effect or hazards to the aquatic environment. The label shows the product identifier, hazard pictograms, signal word, hazard and precautionary statements (H and P statements), nominal quantity and the supplier's contact details. Where required, notification is made to the poison centre with a unique formula identifier (UFI), which also belongs on the label.
Safety data sheets
For the products in the range and for private label products, we provide safety data sheets on request. They contain the classification, the composition to the extent required, first aid measures and information on storage, handling, transport and disposal. For your own brand, the safety data sheet is issued in your company details.
