The choice depends on the type of soiling and the substrate. Oil, grease and brake dust call for a fast-evaporating cleaner that leaves no residue. Use and notes on brake cleaner and other cleaners
Solvent-based cleaners such as brake cleaner work best when you spray the component generously and let the dissolved dirt run off or wipe it away. For stubborn soiling, repeat the process rather than resorting to mechanical force. An acetone-based cleaner is not suitable for painted surfaces. Always check compatibility with plastics, rubber and paint on a concealed area before treating whole surfaces. Apply foam cleaners thinly, leave them to act briefly and remove them with a clean cloth. Ensure adequate ventilation while working and keep away from sources of ignition. Frequently asked questions
What is brake cleaner suitable for, and where should it not be used?
Brake cleaner dissolves oil, grease and brake dust from brakes, clutches, gearbox parts and vehicle electrics and evaporates without residue. The acetone-based brake cleaner from Aerosols Germany is not suitable for painted surfaces. Sensitive plastics and rubber should be tested beforehand on a concealed area. For painted body parts, tar remover is the better choice because it does not attack the paint.
What is the difference between industrial cleaner, degreaser and engine cleaner?
Industrial cleaner and assembly cleaner are all-purpose cleaners for light to medium soiling on machines, components and workstations. The degreaser is an intensive cleaner for layers of grease before bonding, painting or assembly. The engine cleaner is highly concentrated and viscous and adheres even to vertical surfaces, allowing it to creep under heavy layers of oil and grease in the engine bay and on gearboxes so that they can be removed.
How do I remove cured PU foam from the gun and tools?
Fresh foam splashes can be removed quickly and without residue with the PU Cleaner. To clean the inside of the PU foam gun, screw the can directly onto the gun and flush the channel. The universal spray head supplied allows use without a gun as well. Fully cured foam can only be removed mechanically, so you should clean the gun immediately after use.
