Selection guide: which lubricant spray for which task

The choice depends on load, temperature, environment and whether the film should adhere, creep or stay dry. The following overview assigns the products to typical tasks.

For seals and plastics, grease-free and oil-free products such as the Silicone Spray are suitable, because they do not attack the surface and do not bind dust. Where dirt, swarf or dust occur, a dry solid lubricant based on graphite or PTFE is the better choice. At high temperatures and for the assembly of bolted connections, use paste sprays with a copper or aluminium content, which make later dismantling easier.

Application and notes

Clean the lubrication point before application so that old residues do not undermine the new film. Shake the can, spray thinly and precisely and allow the active ingredient to penetrate or dry before the assembly is put back into operation. Several thin coats are usually more effective than a single thick application. With plastics and paints, test compatibility first on an inconspicuous spot.
