Insulating varnish grey

Insulating varnish grey is an electronics insulating varnish in an opaque grey version. It coats electrical and electronic components with a thin, insulating layer of varnish and thus protects them against moisture, dust and dirt. Insulating varnishes of this type have long been used in electrical engineering for windings, coils, terminal areas and printed circuit boards.

The grey colouring makes it easier to check the application: it is easy to see which areas have already been coated and where rework is still needed. The varnish is sprayed on in thin coats so that it also reaches narrow gaps and does not form thick drops. Components that are to be contacted later must be masked before application.

Electrical workshops, motor rewinders, switch cabinet builders and maintenance staff use insulating varnish grey for re-insulation and for protection after repairs. For distributors with an electronics focus, it is also available as an own brand.

Insulating varnish grey is sprayed onto de-energised, clean components; the grey colouring shows which areas have already been coated.

1. Disconnect the component from the power supply, clean and dry it; mask contacts and plug areas.
2. Shake the can well.
3. Spray the insulating varnish on in thin, even coats.
4. Allow to flash off between coats.
5. Let it dry through completely before commissioning.
