Red Penetrant

The red penetrant is the penetrating agent of crack testing with the crack testing kit from Aerosols Germany. After cleaning, it is sprayed onto the test surface and penetrates open cracks, pores and bonding defects by capillary action. The strong red colouring ensures that even small amounts remaining in the crack stand out clearly later on the white developer.

After the dwell time, the excess is removed with the crack testing kit cleaner; the penetrant remaining in the defects is then drawn out by the developer. This allows cracks on weld seams, castings, shafts, pipes and vessels to be assessed on site without electrical testing equipment. The method is suitable for metallic and other non-absorbent materials.

1. Free the test surface of dirt, grease and scale with the crack testing kit cleaner and allow to dry.
2. Shake the can and spray the penetrant onto the test surface so that it is fully covered.
3. Wait for the dwell time so that the agent can penetrate the cracks.
4. Remove the excess with the cleaner and a cloth, then apply the developer.
