Developer Spray

The developer spray is the final step of crack testing with the crack testing kit from Aerosols Germany. It is sprayed on after the cleaner and the red penetrant and forms a thin, white layer on the surface. This layer acts like blotting paper: it draws out the penetrant that has remained in cracks and pores and traces the defect as a red indication on a white background.

In use, this makes fine surface cracks visible that would not be detectable without aids: on weld seams, castings, shafts, gears, vessels and pipes. The method works on metallic and other non-absorbent materials and requires neither a power supply nor measuring instruments, only cleaner, penetrant and developer.

Users are quality assurance, welding shops, maintenance, car and commercial vehicle workshops as well as testing bodies. The developer spray is available individually or as part of the three-can set, under your own brand on request.

1. Clean the test surface with the crack testing kit cleaner and spray on the red penetrant.
2. After the dwell time, remove excess penetrant with the cleaner until the surface is free of colour.
3. Shake the can and spray the developer thinly and evenly from a distance until a closed white layer forms.
4. Wait for the development time, read off cracks as red lines and clean the surface afterwards.
